>>A dozen volunteers joined 9 technical experts for a two-hour training session, followed by field work to find and record Thompson Lake erosion sites. This year’s survey concentrated on Oxford and parts of Otisfield and Norway. Jeff Stern coordinated this important work, the last of 3 annual surveys. The group convened at the Oxford Town Office. After the instructional period, the group divided into 9 teams, each assigned one geographic sector and equipped with GPS devices, cameras, clipboards, and bug spray. At day’s end most reported they would need more time to complete their sector.
